The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild went in a new direction for the Zelda series by introducing elements like survival mechanics into the Nintendo Switch RPG, but that doesn't mean it left its legacy behind entirely. In fact, a secret easter egg seems to have only just been discovered in the game, coming two years after release.
This comes from a GameXplain video which takes us to the south-east corner of the Breath of the Wild map, showing us a location that looks a lot like Wind Waker's Outset Island, except a bit darker of course. Another tweet was then linked comparing Eventide in the game to Wind Waker's Headstone Island, which also shares similarities as well.
Considering the difference in visual style and how out of the way this area is, you can understand why nobody spotted this Wind Waker easter egg until now, but it's a testament to Breath of the Wild's size and scope that it's only just been highlighted now.
Will you be visiting the area?
