Some thought that Age of Empires IV would be announced during E3 a few months ago, but that didn't happen. We didn't have to wait too long for our dreams to come true, though, as Microsoft has released a new trailer that confirms Age of Empires IV is in development.

What might surprise some of you is that it's neither The Creative Assembly nor Decisive Games that are working on it, but the Dawn of War/Homeworld/Company of Heroes developers at Relic Entertainment. That's pretty much all they want to say about the game for the moment, but there's even more good news for fans of the series.

We've also learned that the Age of Empires: Definitive Edition will launch on October 19. What might be even more pleasing for some of you is that Microsoft has noticed how much players wanted more from the series, so they're also working on giving Age of Empires II and Age of Empires III the same remaster treatment. Obviously, they don't want to share more details at the moment, but this is definitely good news.

Are you most excited for the new entry or the remasters?

Age of Empires IV

REVIEW. Written by Marco Vrolijk

Its historical immersion is rich, but sadly, its multiplayer portion is lacking.
