Earlier today we shared the news that a new Alien game would be revealed soon, and here it is. Drum roll please... Alien: Blackout. As expected, the game will feature Amanda Ripley, Ellen Ripley's daughter, as the main protagonist, but we're not quite sure it's a sequel for Alien: Isolation.

For starters, it's only been announced for iOS and Android, providing a very different gameplay experience from PC and console game Isolation, and the official details don't actually refer to Creative Assembly's game, only that it's a "new chapter in the Alien franchise following the saga of Amanda Ripley, Ellen Ripley's daughter, between the films Alien and Aliens."

The game is being developed by FoxNext, and it will allow the player to "remotely guide Amanda Ripley's crew through increasingly challenging tasks using only the station's emergency systems" in a game that the devs say is an "immersive and captivating Alien experience, perfectly designed for mobile gaming, bringing the Alien story to life."

Alien: Blackout will be set aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station, where a xenomorph is hunting for new prey.

Alien: Blackout will be coming "soon", according to the game's official webpage.

REVIEW. Written by Mike Holmes

"It's an edgy little adventure that works well on touchscreens and makes good use of the platform's unique benefits."
