Amazon has bought up Double Helix, the studio behind the recent Xbox One fighter, Killer Instinct.
Amazon issued a brief statement to TechCrunch confirming the deal: "Amazon has acquired Double Helix as part of our ongoing commitment to build innovative games for customers."
The acquisition of the development studio throws more fuel on the fire of speculation surrounding Amazon's probable leap into the console space, with a new console thought to be on the way later this year.
In Double Helix, Amazon has bought a developer with an established track-record. Recent titles include the soon-to-be-released Strider and Killer Instinct, and looking back (before the company was formed when Shiny and The Collective merged) they created games such as Earthworm Jim and Enter the Matrix.
