Back at E3 we heard that the developers "stayed faithful" with Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, and at Gamescom we caught up with Age of Empires' creative director Adam Isgreen to hear even more about this version, which is coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the second game.

"We're really excited that this is the year we're going to be bringing out the Definitive Edition, the best edition we could possibly make, of Age II for fans all over the world," he said.

"One of the things we've really done is modernise multiplayer though. We took the whole multiplayer stack out, and we're using the multiplayer stack actually from Age of Empires 4 in all of the Definitive Edition games, so we can have a great, wonderful, secure, and fast system for people to use to play multiplayer with across all Age of Empires games."

In the interview below, Isgreen also talks about new features like zoom, 4K graphics, new campaigns, and more, all of which we can experience when the Definitive Edition launches on November 14 this year.
