It is expected that Apple will reveal the next generation of iPad at their press conference later today.
The new tablet has been referred to by many as iPad 3, though a source close to site Venture Beat has revealed that the new device will carry the suffix HD. The new hi-res tablet will have a 2,048 by 1,536 pixel display.
There were rumours that the new iPad would carry a quad-core processor, but these guesstimates have been revised, with speculation rife that the new tablet will be powered by a refined version of Apple's dual-core A5 processor.
In related news, the same site reckons that Apple has been buying up 7.1-inch screens to make smaller, cheaper iPads.
