Ark: Survival Evolved's Xbox One X enhancements revealed

We also have two new trailers to celebrate the launch of the new version.

Studio Wildcard has today announced that Ark: Survival Evolved is available now as a launch title for Microsoft's Xbox One X console, with enhancements coming via a free update to all Xbox players.

There are a number of features that make Ark "the ultimate visually and technically advanced dinosaur survival experience on any console," as the press release puts it, and here's what Jeremy Stieglitz, Lead Designer, Lead Programmer, Development Director, Co-Creative Director, and Co-Founder of Studio Wildcard had to say on the new version:

"Ever since the original announcement of the Xbox One X, we've been excited to see how far Microsoft would push the hardware specs, and how far that would let us push Ark. When gamers get their hands on this powerful new console, and of course, on the new build of Ark, we expect they'll be just as impressed as we are with how much more visually immersive the world of Ark becomes."

One of the biggest enhancements is Detail Mode, featuring 30 FPS gameplay at 1440p, or you could run the game 60 FPS at 1080p in Medium Quality. In this Detail Mode, higher quality textures, extended draw distances, and long-range shadows are also applied too, not to mention the TrueSky system with its volumetric clouds, sunlight scattering, dynamic weather system, and realistic fog.

Splitscreen also enables players to independently explore the islands of the game, but if online is more your style, you'll be pleased to know that Xbox One X servers can now host 70 players in a game. Loading and streaming times are also improved as well.
