Black Ops 4's Blackout mode will feature 80 players

When Activision and Treyarch revealed the Blackout battle royale mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, questions were raised about how many players would be dropping into the fight, and now GameInformer has reported that this number is 80, at least during the beta phase.

The studio tested internally with 100 players, but their priority is having the right quality of gameplay rather than reaching a fixed number. Co-studio head Dan Bunting says they want "the ideal perfect format for what players are going to play," so it's all about nailing the user experience.

Treyarch also revealed that they'll have zombies in Blackout too, AI-controlled undead that can cause chaos, along with vehicles like a Cargo Truck (one driver, four passengers), an ATV (one driver, one passenger), an inflatable Zodiac Boat (one pilot, three passengers), and a Little Bird Helicopter (one pilot, four passengers).
