One of the games that caught our eye at PAX East in Boston was Joy Masher's Blazing Chrome. We had a chat with publisher The Arcade Crew's Arnaud de Sousa about the game and we also drifted off for a bit of a Sega-flavoured retro nostalgia sidetrack.
"Basically, it's kind of a mix between Contra and Metal Slug", said de Sousa. "Super retro. Super old-school. It's made by Joy Masher, a Brazilian studio, they know retro. They did two other games, Odallus and Oniken, one is pretty much a Castlevania-like and the other one is more like Ninja Gaiden."
The conversation steered towards the retro inspirations (the game uses the Sega Mega Drive colour palette) and the story, if you care about narrative in a game such as this ("it's pretty much Terminator"). As for platforms, PC is the only one we can be sure of but consoles are being looked into.
How about that soundtrack? Pretty sweet if you ask us...
