Portuguese football team Boavista FC is the latest club to sign up for Gerard Piqué's eFootball.Pro esports competition, joining the likes of FC Barcelona, Schalke 04, AS Monaco and Celtic FC as the PES-focused competition continues to gather momentum.

"The presence in this competition reinforces the focus on youth, innovation and technology that we want to promote, not only in eSports but throughout the Club," club president João Loureiro explained. "Like our opponents, we seek to innovate with this competition that brings real and virtual football closer together in another international presence of the Club that we are sure will please our fans".

It sounds like more teams will be "unveiled soon" ahead of the competition's start.

"By signing Boavista we reinforce the international vocation of our competition," Gerard Piqué explained before adding: "Surely their performance in the league will not leave anyone indifferent".
