Gearbox Software hasn't exactly kept it under wraps, but Borderlands 3 has been officially confirmed by the developer and publisher 2K at PAX East, where they also debuted the first gameplay from the threequel in an extended trailer.

What's more is that the rumoured Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition was also confirmed for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, landing on April 3 and bringing new weapons, visual upgrades, all DLC, and more. A free Ultra HD Texture Pack is coming for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection on consoles on the same day, alongside Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2 on PC, and all Borderlands 2 DLC will be added to Borderlands 2 VR for free this summer.

These Ultra HD Texture Packs will bring all of the games up to 4K resolution and make the game look nicer on other displays as well. On console, this means 4K Ultra HD and HDR for Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, with environment textures, characters, vehicles, and cinematics all being brought into 4K as well. There are even updated weapon meshes and textures, improved anti-aliasing, improved ink line definition, higher resolution dynamic shadows, and improved quality and smoothness of shadows. On PC we also get improved screen space ambient occlusion (SSAO) and an improved SSAO method for more realistic ambient lighting as well.

As for Borderlands 3, aside from the confirmation, we don't have a lot of information available right now. We do know, however, that we're getting more details starting on April 3, so stay tuned for that, and in the meantime watch the gameplay trailer below.

Are you glad to finally get the confirmation?
