Call of Juarez: The Cartel was "a mistake"

There's still hope of a proper new entry in the series.

Do you remember Call of Juarez: The Cartel? No? Well you haven't really missed out. It was a mediocre sequel that was released 2011, and brought the cowboys from the entertaining Call of Juarez games to present day Los Angeles.

It was a buggy, poorly paced and frankly boring game that was rewarded accordingly in reviews. But it seems like it's not only us gamers who didn't like it, but also Techland themselves. In an interview with Techland's CEO Pawel Marchewka, he says that "it wasn't finished when we released it" and even goes as far as calling it "a mistake".

Fortunately, Techland doesn't seem to have given up on the series and Marchewka says:

"We definitely know the genre, we love the genre, we'd love to come back, it's just that at the moment there are more important topics to deal with."
