Capcom profits double thanks to Monster Hunter: World

This year's been a roaring success.

It's been quite a year for Capcom, with Monster Hunter: World selling 10 million copies in the second fiscal quarter - a record-breaking figure for any single game in the history of Capcom.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, this has lead to a 29% increase overall in revenue in the first half of the fiscal year compared to last year, an increase in net profit to 97%, and an 207% increase in operating profit, despite the financial losses Capcom suffered when it decided to close down Capcom Vancouver.

Capcom is releasing Devil May Cry 5 and the remake of Resident Evil 2 before the fiscal year is officially over in March 2019, so it will be interesting to see how things continue to go. Could they do anywhere near as well as Monster Hunter: World?
