At E3 this year Bandai Namco was showing off a lot on the show floor of the LA Convention Center and it was here that we talked with Code Vein's producer Keita Iizuka about not only the recent network test, but also about how development has been going, especially with regards to the combat.

"We brushed up on several elements of the game that are the main appeal of Code Vein," he explained via a translator. "So one of these is the story, and how we sort of convey it. We want to make sure that the player understands clearly what kind of situation they're in, what kind of adventure they're about to embark on, so we made adjustments to the opening theatrics and things like that to convey that more clearly."

"But I think the biggest change was in the expansion of variety in action, especially involving Gifts. So we really zoomed in and we really expanded what you can do with Gifts and the variety and versatility, the adaptability, of all these different play styles that people may have. So I think that's something we really worked on."

"All the different types of Gifts that you have, the Blood Veils that are available, and the weapons that you have will really open up a lot of options for the player to really outfit their character to their individual play styles, and I think that's one of the highlights of Code Vein."

For those who don't know Gifts are items that players can get in the game to perform actions like healing themselves, giving buffs, effect damage to enemies, and more.

If this all sounds interesting you might want to check out our new gameplay from Code Vein at E3 as well, where we got to try out a lot of these different options for combat.

Are you looking forward to trying the combat in Code Vein?
