At today's community reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 it was revealed that the latest game in Treyarch's popular series will include a new sort of multiplayer experience akin to the very popular Battle Royale games like Fortnite and PUBG. Careful not to call it a Battle Royale mode, Treyarch went for phrase winner-takes-all, instead, but it's clear what this giant map (1,500 times bigger than Nuke Town) is all about. Players will assume the roles of characters from across the series as well as characters from the various Zombies chapters. There will be both solo and team play, and naturally vehicles (land, sea, and air).
"The Black Ops community means everything to us, so we knew in order to deliver something really special for our fans like Blackout, with the biggest map we've ever created in Call of Duty, we had to push ourselves and our tech to the absolute limits," said Mark Gordon, Co-Studio Head, Treyarch.
It's a bold move for a franchise that is known for its intense second-to-second gameplay.
