At Gamescom this year we talked to Crowfall's creative director J Todd Coleman about the game, which is an MMO with a difference, who explained to us exactly how it separates itself from other games in the genre.

"So Crowfall is an MMO, first of all, but it is a unique idea in MMOs," he told us. "If I just describe it in a single sentence, I would describe it as 'the MMO that you can win', and by that I mean we've actually engineered the game to be a Game of Thrones-style gameplay session where, over the period of a few months, every server is set up so the individual teams or factions are competing for the control of that world. They're building castles, they're claiming territory, they're fighting each other, they're toppling those castles - and the goal is to actually win the game."

"At the end of that three-month period one team or faction will actually win that server and then that server goes away and all those characters move onto another world, so it's kind of a fundamentally different idea, the idea of an MMO where, instead of the world being static and never-changing based on the actions of the players, the world is dynamic and everything changes based on the actions of the players."

He also clarified that characters don't change once a server is completed, so you won't have to worry about continually restarting. Does this idea grab your interest?
