Dallas Fuel are heading to the East division for the 2023 Overwatch League

The team will not be operating in Dallas this year, as it instead looks to support its all-Korean players by basing them closer to home.

It's not uncommon to see Overwatch League teams leaving their native cities in favour of being headquartered in Asia, as a lot of the best players from around the world come from South Korea and China. In the past we've seen the Los Angeles Valiant do so, as well as the Philadelphia Fusion (who have committed to this process and have now rebranded to the Seoul Infernal), and now the reigning champions, the Dallas Fuel are doing so as well.

As noted in an update from team co-owner Mike "Hastr0" Rufail on Twitter, the Fuel will be based in South Korea for the 2023 season, as with most of its team being from the country, the team should feel better about being based in their native country.

This will mean that the East division will once again consist of seven teams (as the Valiant are now back in the US), with those being the four Chinese teams (Shanghai Dragons, Chengdu Hunters, Hangzhou Spark, Guangzhou Charge), the two South Korean teams (Seoul Dynasty, Seoul Infernal), and of course the Dallas Fuel.
