It's been a long time since we had news about Dead Island 2, an unfortunate sequel to the 2011 game for Xbox 360, PC and PS3, after its troubled development switched from original developer Yager to Sumo Digital. Many fans even feared that the project had been silently cancelled, but Dead Island's official Twitter account just put our fears to rest. Responding to a user asking for information, the following message was posted:
"Dead Island 2 is still in development and we will share more on this at a later stage".
In the discussion that followed, the person behind the feed wanted to reassure the players that everything is going well, that they are satisfied with the game and that, with regard to potential DLCs, they prefer not to say too much as they are now completely focused on the main game.
Perhaps we'll get to see Dead Island 2 anew at Gamescom next month as publisher Deep Silver typically has a big presence in Cologne.
