During a recent conference call pertaining to the latest round of financial results, Capcom discussed the free-to-play monetisation of their upcoming procedurally-generated RPG, Deep Down, calling the game "ambitious" and stating that the business model they're adopting is "worth challenging" as a means of drawing in new players.

"There are still few precedents for free to play titles on home consoles, but we recognize that this is an ambitious title. However "Deep Down," which we are developing internally, by the basic nature of being free, comes with the big benefit of the opportunity to attract new players on a new platform. I think it's a business model worth challenging."

Capcom's RPG will be heading into beta (in Japan at least) at some point, although a recent <a href=https://twitter.com/deepdown_JP/status/495078167774625792">Tweet</a> confirmed another delay in this direction. There should be more news on that front later this month.
