Microtransactions are like a buzzword for the industry right now, and it turns out Devil May Cry will actually offer these to upgrade your character, allowing players to spend real money to get better, as verified by Game Director Hideaki Itsuno when he spoke to GameSpot.

The news surfaced after the new playable demo shown to press at the Tokyo Game Show 2018, featuring Dante, who's a secondary character to main hero Nero. The game allows us to trade in orbs that we collect during combat and exploration, but you also have the option to spend real money on these orbs to upgrade.

"With giving people the ability to purchase Red Orbs, it's something we want to give people as an option," Itsuno said. "If they want to save time and just want to get all the stuff at once, those people can do that. But on the other hand I don't feel you have to get all the moves. You should be able to play it the way you want to play it."
