Creating a football game, such as Pro Evolution Soccer 2017, is a tricky effort, because not only must the developers handle creating a proper simulation of professional football, but they must also secure the rights to use teams, players, arenas, even down to the actual balls and shirts. Now it seems that there's one particular player developer Konami forgot to ask for permission, and that might lead to a court case.

Legendary player Diego Maradona recently found out his appearance was used in a special mode in Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 dedicated to now retired legends like Maradona, Thierry Henry, and Ronald Koeman, and now he's issued the following statement (via Twinfinite):

"I heard yesterday that the Japanese company Konami uses my image for its game PES 2017. Unfortunately, my lawyer Matias Morla will initiate the corresponding legal actions. I hope this is not another scam..."

It's at this point unclear as to how Konami handled acquiring the rights to use the appearance of these retired players. Is Maradona the biggest legend on the game?
