Lee's already picked his highlight of the month, stating its "the best shooter on iOS" - check out his Modern Combat 3 review. But for other recommendations, read on!
PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2012
Download | Price: Free
Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 has landed on the App Store, and this time Konami has decided you deserve a free try out. Does it beat FIFA 12 (which can now use two iPhones as controllers)? While First Touch Soccer is still our favourite, since Pro Evo seems to have a bit slower reaction times, it's worth a try out. For a download price of zero, you've got nothing to lose.
DIVERSION
Download | Price: £0.69
Diversion is another title which finally got an iPad update. This is a simple one button platformer. The difference between this title and the enormous range of similar titles on the App Store is that the level design is rather smart. It includes boss fights, portals and offers lots of challenge.
WHERE IS MY WATER
Download | Price: £0.69
Disney hits the App Store with Where is My Water. This is another example of how well you can make a game with touch. You must lead water to your shower-loving alligator by digging away dirt with your finger. That's seems pretty simple but you'll also need to mix chemicals, mines and intricate port systems, your mind will bend. It's addictive and incredibly fun and might just be the next Cut The Rope or Angry Birds.
MONSTER ATE MY CONDO
Download | Price: £0.69
Adult Swim Games (the guys behind Robot Unicorn Attack and a huge range of bizarre titles) is back with a new game. This time it's Monters Ate My Condo. It's an advanced puzzle game where you try to keep attacking monsters in check, while trying to match the coloured apartments in your skyscraper. Throw in a lot of noise, a billion grotesque Japanese references and rainbow coloured unicorns, and you get...a rather fantastical title.
JAGGY RACE
Download | Price: £0.69
Jaggy Race was overlooked during a storm of bigger titles and that's a shame. I admit that the graphical style makes the game look like an amateur's work, but the mechanics are wholesome and quite different. You must complete a level as fast as possible - but all are intricate and upside down. Luckily your car is magnetic and you must know when to turn your magnet on and off during the course. It's an unusual and compelling idea.
DRAWRACE 2
Download | Price: £1.99
Drawrace 2 is the sequel to the unbelievably popular "draw your route" game. Draw how your car should drive through the course, and the faster you draw, the faster your car drives. It's simple and perfect for multiple players on the same iPad. As one of the Gamereactor staff noted: its the perfect drinking game.
SWORDS & SOLDIERS
Download | Price £1.99
Swords & Soldiers has been under my radar for some time, but after trying the demo on Playstation 3 and noting that it would work perfectly with touch, I looked through the App Store for similar titles and found it was available on iPad. Damn it's good. It's the type of game where you must defend your base and micro-manage your troops to destroy your opponent. Also there's a pretty good multi-player mode for those who wants to play two on one iPad. Grab it!
PIGGY ADVENTURE
Download | Price: £1.99
Piggy Adventure is another game in which multiple smaller puzzles must be completed in order to reach the end. Here you've got a flexible pig, a heavy cow or little chicken and using each's skills to push buttons, open gates and pass obstacles. Overall it's a good puzzle game with delightful characters.
SUPERGAY
Download | Price: £1.99
Supergay is the story about a scientist who realizes he's gay, and takes drastic measures to solve the problem of having to marry his boss' daughter. It's a very entertaining story topped of with good mini games. Add to this that it's just been updated with six new chapters/levels.
Lee will be back next month with another crop of must-try iOS titles - most of which you'll likely not to have heard of before.
