Double Fine revealed a new game called Rad during the Nindies Spring Showcase today. Bandai Namco is publishing the title, which is a top-down roguelike that looks like it's going to capture the studio's quirky spirit, with the player-character mutating their way through the post-apocalyptic wastelands of the future, often to hilarious effect by the looks of things.

You can see some of the mutation-based gameplay in the announcement trailer below, and we're told that more news is on the way. Also, while the game was announced during Nintendo's indie-themed stream, it's also heading to PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.

Rad is coming at some point in the summer, and you can sign up for the closed beta on Steam right here, which starts on April 8. Here's a bit about the game, and you can also see it action below.

In RAD, players take on the role of a teenage protagonist who must venture into the Fallow, an ever-changing radioactive wasteland filled with unknown and unspeakable creatures. It's here that they'll find the solution to heal the world, and transform the cracked, barren landscape into a lush source of new life. But humanity's future comes at great personal cost, as the deeper they journey into unknown lands, the more they expose themselves to gnarly toxins which bless, or curse, them with strange new mutations.

REVIEW. Written by Kim Orremark

"We would have liked to have seen more healing items in the game as it would have given us more opportunities to progress. Then again, maybe we just suck."
