The ESL has confirmed that the first major event in the Counter-Strike calendar, ESL One: Rio, has been postponed until November in an effort to avoid the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that has seen so many competitive events either put on ice or cancelled outright.

The Brazil-based event will now take place much nearer the end of the year at the same venue, with organisers confirming that it will be the year's only CSGO major (there's usually two), along with the following change to the prize pool:

The May 2020 @CSGO Major in Rio has been rescheduled to November 19-22 due to the COVID-19 situation. The event will remain at Jeunesse Arena and the prize money will be added to the November Major, upping it to $2,000,000

Like many other rescheduled events, tickets already purchased for the May event are valid for the November one, or fans can request a refund if they prefer.
