Russian esports organisation Virtus.pro has announced the signing of a PUBG roster to its growing list of teams. Virtus.pro will be adding the Northern Lights roster to its list of players, to compete in PC PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

The first match for the team will be as soon as December 18, when they look to compete in the Dreamhack Winter Showdown - Europe. That event will last until December 20, featuring a $30,000 prize pool. To catch the action, head over here for the first game set to take place at 3pm GMT / 4pm CET on Friday.

"We always keep tabs on different disciplines that are not in our current pool," said Sergey Glamazda, CEO of Virtus.pro in a press release. "The developer's efforts in growing the esport scene in PUBG are encouraging. Organisations have been put into enabling environments for creating rosters. The decision to sign the team is rational and economically justified. It's somewhat of a hypothesis testing for our future in this discipline. Of course, success can only be achieved with good sports results, so we are thrilled to have one of the best squads in the region under our ranks."

The Virtus.pro team now consists of Aleksandr "BatulinS" Batulin, Kirill "Lu" Lukianov, Yaroslav "spyrro" Kuvichko and Dmytro "Perfect1ks" Dubeniuk as players, with Ramazan "H1RUZEN" Valiullin in the coach position and Alexander "Dyrem" Sevirinov taking the mantle of manager and analyst.
