The first ever esports athlete to sign with Oakley has been named as Seth "Scump" Abner, one of the members of the OpTic Chicago Call of Duty League team. Scump joins the likes of many big name athletes such as the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Moto GP star Valentino Rossi, and professional golfer Andrew Putner.

According to The Esports Observer, Scump has signed with Oakley to help the brand push its new eyewear specifically designed for gaming, Prizm, which features Gaming Lens Technology.

Speaking about the matter to The Esports Observer, Scump has said, "I watch a ton of sports. I see Oakley all over the place. My favorite sport to watch is baseball and you see those players wearing them every day. Oakley is just an amazing brand, a very cool, and a very hip brand as well. I think Oakley just kinda speaks for itself."

As for how long Scump has signed on with Oakley for, that remains unknown, but it is exciting to see more mainstream sporting brands taking a dip in esports. Which brand would you like to see follow suit next?
