The London-based esports organisation, Excel Esports has announced that it has signed a new member to its League of Legends European Championship roster, in the four time back-to-back LEC champion, Mihael 'Mikyx' Mehle.

Revealed in an announcement post on Twitter, Excel has revealed that Mikyx will be taking the starting support role position, with Henk "Advienne" Reijenga stepping back from the role.

"We have big ambitions for this year and making sure we have the best possible line-up of players who have synergy and work well together as a unit is a top priority," said Excel's esports director, Tim Reichert. "When the unique opportunity arose for Mikyx to join us here at EXCEL it was a decision we were ready to make. We have a long season ahead of us and it is important that we make decisions with one goal in mind, challenging the best of the best for a top three spot."

While the signing is still subject to the approval of Riot, Excel is hoping to see Mikyx make his debut on the team this week, starting with when they play MAD Lions and then Astralis.
