One of the world's best, if not the best, fighter Russian Fedor Emelianenko will headline the roster of fighters in EA Sports MMA, due out next year. He is joined by highly ranked light heavyweights Gegard Mousasi and Renato "Babalu" Sobral as the first official fighters in EA Sports MMA. Mousasi and Sobral will face off at Strikeforce on August 15 and EA Sports are sponsoring that fight.

Fedor issued the following statement via the press release:

"I have fought all over the world and I am excited to be in EA SPORTS MMA because this game is going to show the global appeal of mixed martial arts," said Emelianenko. "I know MMA fans have been wanting to play as me and pitting me against any opponent. Now they will have their opportunity."

After a press conference yesterday where Fedor Emelianenko and his management refused to give out any firm details on the future of the world's best heavyweight mixed martial fighter it is still in the air whether we will ever see The Last Emperor fight the best of UFC's heavyweight division including current champion Brock Lesnar. Another option for Fedor is to return to fight in Japan or join Strikeforce.

Other fighters rumoured to be in the game include Randy Couture, Tim Sylvia, Jake Shields, Jason "Mayhem" Miller, Bobby Lashley, Muhammed Lawal, and Nick Diaz.
