As has been made clear in the last few days, Telltale Games is facing a majority closure, being forced to lay off large numbers of staff in order to survive, and now Polygon reports that a former employee has filed a class-action lawsuit claiming that the studio violated labor laws in the US and California when it let employees go last Friday.
The claim says that the employees were dismissed "without cause" and without an "advance written notice as required by the WARN Act." It also demands the payment of unpaid wages and benefits for the employee and those laid off with them, which includes holiday, vacation, pension, and more for the 60-day notification period they should have had.
As reported by GameDaily though, Telltale might have a defence against a federal WARN Act suit, but it'll be harder to defend against one in California's own version of the WARN Act.
What do you make of this whole situation?
