Devolver Digital just confirmed the launch date for Absolver, and it's coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on August 29. The publisher also released a new gameplay trailer for its "online melee action" game. The video shows an in-depth look at the game's combat system and the unique play-styles it offers.

At the "beginning of your journey" you have to choose one of three available play-styles that offer unique advantages and strategies. The Forsaken will parry and stun opponents, the resilient Kahlt Method absorbs hits and unleashes them to regenerate health. The students of the Windfall avoid and counter enemy attacks.

The video also shows a feature called the Combat Deck, which lists available attacks in the four stances being used. The stances are determined by our position relative to the target. In other words, if you move around an opponent, you automatically change stance, and you must keep that in mind if you want to master what sounds a complex combat system.

To customise every character to your own play-style you can choose which attacks are used in each stance with the Combat Deck. It's even possible to learn new attacks from other players if you see them in action. Seems like Absolver could be a genuine rival for Ubisoft's For Honor, don't you think?
