A German newspaper has speculated that this year's Gamescom could be the last for the Cologne-based gaming fair.
Tabloid Bild has published an article online stating the expo is under review after incurring losses of half a million euros. It states that an ongoing report is to "evaluate the strategic necessity of the event".
How much of this is truth or speculation is unknown, as the newspaper is known for controversial and sensationalist headlines. It's also not known if this would mean the expo closing completely or downsizing and shifting elsewhere.
This year's Gamescom has had numerous companies declining to participate: THQ, Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft have all stated they won't have a presence on the show floor.
