The esports company Gfinity has signed a one-year partnership extension with Formula One, a deal that will continue to see Gfinity produce the F1 Esports Series throughout 2022 from its arena in London.
This extension will include the Pro Exhibition at the British GP, and will also span the Pro Championship tournament. Likewise, the Gfinity Arena will remain as the venue for live broadcast and LAN events this coming season.
"The F1 Esports Series presented by Aramco is one of the most exciting esports tournaments in the world. We are delighted to continue to work with Formula 1 to deliver an expanded 2022 programme," said John Clarke, Gfinity's chief executive officer.
"Last year's Series broke viewing records with more than 23 million views across digital platforms, a 103% year on year increase. The foundations are in place to grow the audience even higher. The thrills and spills of virtual racing have captured the imagination. It is bringing even more young people into the world of F1 and Gfinity is proud to play a role in making it happen."
As for when the next season of the F1 Esports Series will begin, we're waiting for more information on this, but no doubt it will be a few weeks or months after F1 22 has launched.
