God of War has to be considered a huge success by pretty much every metric imaginable (for example, we were one of many outlets that slapped the game with a big fat 10/10 and you can read our review here if you'd like to know more).
Games like Horizon: Zero Dawn and God of War have made a clear case that there still is a demand for story-driven single player experiences. But now we also know that the digital market for these big games is also going strong. According to Super Data:
During their respective launch months, The Witcher 3 earned $69M, Uncharted 4 made $56M, and God of War raked in $131M in total digital revenue. These results show that there is a significant demand for narrative experiences among gamers.
So during its first month after launch, God of War made $131 million dollars of revenue in digital sales. We can conclude that an economically significant portion of players want their story-driven single player experiences in digital form.
