Goodbye Philadelphia Fusion, hello Seoul Inferno

While the majority of Overwatch League news over the past few weeks have revolved around roster additions and signings, Comcast Spectator (the owners of the Philadelphia Fusion team) has announced that the team will be making a serious change as it looks toward the 2023 season.

Specifically, the franchise will be rebranding and will now be known as the Seoul Inferno, as it leaves behind the city of Philadelphia in favour of becoming the second team based in South Korea.

The reason behind this decision is simply down to the fact that the team has been mostly based in Seoul ever since the start of the pandemic, and now in a bid to best succeed in 2023, the team will be permanently relocating as it aims for a championship trophy.

"As we gear up for next season, we've been evaluating how we can best compete at a consistent, championship level, and we've realised that our franchise will be best positioned to succeed in Seoul," said Dave Scott, president and CEO of Comcast Spectacor. "We're excited to begin this next chapter as the Seoul Infernal, and our team is proud to represent our current and future fans on the global stage."

The Infernal will now be headquartered at T1's HQ in Seoul, and as for its new logos, jerseys, roster and so forth, this will all be unveiled in the coming weeks and months.

It should be said that ownership, management, and the currently signed roster will not be changed following this relocation.
