In amongst all of the announcements that were made during Sony's pre-Gamescom press conference on Tuesday, was the revelation that there's going to be a Gran Turismo movie.

Now Polyphony Digital Boss Kazunori Yamauchi has gone into the announcement in more detail, and told Gamereactor: "There where propositions for seven years - we refused them every time - until now. Everybody wanted to make a car-action film, but that wasnt what I had in mind. For sure there will be action with cars in the movie, but there will also be a story about a young man growing up. A story that will show us the life of a rising race driver.

Since Sony - in cooperation with Nissan - operates the GT Academy for aspiring young race drivers, it's a good bet that the academy will be involved in the film somehow.

Gran Turismo 6, which was shown at this year's Gamescom, is set to be released on December 6, exclusively for PS3.

REVIEW. Written by Thomas Blichfeldt

"It amazes me that GT6 fails to address so many of the franchise's problems, filling the game with more content rather than fixing the more basic problems."
