Game director Paul Jeal explains some of the new features added to the F1 experience this year, including localised weather and something that sounds an awful lot like a tutorial.

On keeping the franchise fresh:

It's always difficult in year three to give people a reason [to buy the game], especially if they've bought the previous two games. So the challenge for ourselves was to overhaul the entire game. That starts with the front menu: it's totally changed this year, it's all new, it's got a fresh new look. And improve all the areas that people are used to: the game modes, the car handling, the AI. But at the same time introduce new content too.

On localised weather:

Races such as Monaco, which has just gone where there was the threat of the rain all around the circuit for the entire race: is it going to come? Is it not going to come? That was an element we wanted to get into the game.

"We're impressed at how inviting this manages to be in comparison to last year's game, making it the strongest entry in the series to date."
