GRTV: Hearts of Iron 3

Their Finest Hour is the latest expansion for Hearts of Iron 3. Bengt caught up with project lead Dan Lind and found out about some of the changes set to feature in the next update for the popular WWII strategy game.

The project lead explained what they tried to do with the update: "What we were thinking with this expansion, was we basically went through and had a look at what is there and had a look at what isn't as fun as it could've been, or what are people asking for... We tried to take the ones we could do and do those."

One specific example of an improvement was the new Custom Game Start: "People felt that it took quite awhile to get started on the war, but they wanted to play the beginning years, to mould their country to the way they wanted to play."

"Or if they wanted to try something unhistorical, like totally going in a different direction, you would have to start in 1936 and play for years before the war started... We have this new thing call a Custom Game Start, that basically lets you fast-forward the first couple of years. Or you can pick a later start date in the middle of the war if you want."

Whilst multiplayer will always remain popular, there's still plenty to do for those who enjoy taking on solo campaign: "In single player you can do whatever you want. It's sort of a "what if?" thing. You get to see what happens if I do this crazy thing with this country"
