According to a report, Halo 2 is being remade by 343 Industries, with the studio alleged to be working on the game's development already.

OXM UK has reported that an Anniversary Edition for Bungie's second game is already in the works. The magazine claims that "following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary."

If the claim proves true, it would hardly be a surprise. With Halo 4 due out November 6, Halo 2 Anniversary would fit nicely into a similar slot the following year, thus maintaining the momentum of near yearly releases established since Halo 3 was released in 2007.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary proved reasonably popular when it was released at the tail-end of last year, and 343 will be hoping for a similar response to Halo 2. There'll certainly be plenty of Halo fans licking their lips at the prospect of once again taking on the role of Arbiter, and taking on the Covenant with ODSTs at your side.

Perhaps, as it was with last year's remake, we'll also be treated to a selection of classic maps to play in Halo 4's multiplayer. We can think of a few maps that we wouldn't mind getting updated. Guardian or Rat Race anyone?
