A huge mod has been released for Halo: Combat Evolved that brings six new missions and a whole host of tweaks, including graphical improvements for the FPS title. Launched originally in August 2017, the update named SPV3 (single-player version 3) was designed to bring the classic shooter into the modern era of gaming, however, it has since grown even further, especially in version 3.2 of the mod.

SPV3.2 has essentially overhauled Combat Evolved to make it perform to the degree of modern titles by adding support for 4K graphics and ultrawide resolutions, as well as bringing a new launcher and update system to the game (you can see a trailer for it right here).

For PC fans of the Halo franchise who wish to jump into the titles and can't wait for Halo: Reach to drop ahead of the Master Chief Collection, this could be your best option, although bear in mind that mod has an installation size of 3.5GB and requires players to own a copy of Combat Evolved to use. Likewise, since this is a mod and technically not part of the Combat Evolved update plan, it may be prone to bugs and glitches which haven't been fully tested by a regulatory body.

What do you think of the SPV3.2 mod for Halo: Combat Evolved?
