Hollow Knight: Silksong revealed to be sequel, not DLC

Team Cherry realised their plans went beyond what you'd call an expansion, with a new protagonist, over 150 new enemies and much more.

When the three developers at Team Cherry said that they were working on some Hollow Knight-related content we'd have to pay for it sounded like they were talking about an expansion to the great game that initially launched back in 2017, so today's announcement has caught us off guard.

Team Cherry has announced Hollow Knight: Silksong, a true sequel to their Kickstarter success. We will as expected play as the Hornet, which has a completely new move-set and attacks. These will come in handy when running, jumping and fighting our way through a whole new kingdom consisting of coral forests, mossy grottos, gilded cities, misted moors and a few other beautiful areas. This will obviously not be a walk in the park, as we're told to expect more than 150 new enemies and an unspecified number of new bosses. Then it's quite fortunate that we'll have a few new weapons to choose from as well.

Those of you looking for an even tougher challenge can also look forward to something called Challenge Silk Soul mode after finishing the story. The developers aren't ready to tell us much about the special mode yet, but we're told to expect a unique, challenging spin on the game.

Unfortunately, we still don't know when Hollow Knight: Silksong will be released, so watching the great reveal trailer just makes the wait even harder. Just a warning...
