With two Assassin's Creed games coming just weeks apart (Assassin's Creed: Unity is hitting new-gen and PC on October 28, Assassin's Creed: Rogue is landing on Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 11), some people have suspected that the plan might be to eventually bring Rogue to new-gen platforms via a HD-update (similar to what Ubisoft did with Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD).

"It's too early to discuss this subject. Right now Unity is our game for new generation consoles," Ubisoft Sofia's Ivan Balabanov said when pressed on the subject by OXM.

"The [Unity] technology's built from the ground up with a lot of reinventions of the systems behind it - essentially it's a game that takes full advantage of the hardware, and what we wanted to do in our case is make a game for players who still haven't made the transition."

These quotes follow on from a different interview with Rogue's producer Karl von der Luhe, who said only "a vocal minority" of gamers think that two Assassin's Creed titles in a month is too much.

"There are the hardcore Assassin's Creed fans that are happy to play two games and there are of course many fans who have not yet made that financial move to go to next-gen," he said. "And these are the guys that we're really catering for - they're thankful for the fact that they will have a compelling Assassin's Creed game to play on either their Xbox 360 or PS3."

Ubisoft puts an end to their North American trilogy that started with Assassin's Creed III with a game that fails across the board to build on its excellent predecessor.
