Jim Henson and Kermit the Frog are two instantly recognisable names today. The American puppeteer and arguably his most famous creation, the pair have been entertainment titans since the 70s, and have continued to be iconic almost 30 years after Henson sadly passed away.

But while many know the green frog, you might be unaware of Henson's green car of the same name. As a recent report from Hagerty has touched on and revealed that the puppeteer was actually gifted a green Lotus Eclat in 1978, which was known as Kermit the Car.

The reason seemed to be down to Lotus attempting to expand its name and reputation, and in order to suit the puppeteer and what made him famous, Lotus had the car painted in the same colour of the felt frog. The headlights of the car that popped up even made the car look like the frog.

The reason why many are likely unaware of the car is because according to The Jim Henson Company, it was never actually delivered to the puppeteer, and was instead stolen and used for a bank heist, and then never found.

Either way, you can take a look at the car in Hagerty's article here.
