In an interview about the recently released 10 Cloverfield Lane, J.J. Abrams, the film's producer, was asked about the status of his joint project with Valve to make movies based on Half-Life and Portal.

He answered by saying: "Not yet, but they're in development," which he followed up by adding: "We've got writers, and we're working on both those stories, but nothing that would be an exciting update."

The question was brought up as 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg rose to prominence after he released his Portal fan short, 'Portal: No Escape'.

The films were first hinted at during DICE 2013 (more on that here). Abrams and Valve boss Gabe Newell both expressed a desire to partner up. For now, however, we'll have to keep our fingers crossed that we'll hear some more concrete news soon.
