Jon Favreau to direct the Lion King remake

Jon Favreau, who in the realm of nerds may be most known for directing Iron Man and its sequel, has seen success in bringing the classic Jungle Book to a new generation with the 2016 live action remake starring Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley and Idris Elba.

With the remake of Beauty and the Beast already slated for release next year, Disney fans has been speculating about which Disney classic that is next in line for the same treatment. Now we know that it's The Lion King, which will also be directed by Jon Favreau, that we'll get to look forward to.

The movie, like Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast, will feature songs from the original. No release date has been set for the movie.
