Joseph Kosinski directing the Gran Turismo movie?

Last summer Polyphony Digital confirmed that there would be a movie based on the famous Gran Turismo racing series. Since then the project went kinda dark, but now US movie magazine Variety reports that the studio is in intensive talks with director Joseph Kosinski (Tron Legacy, Oblivion).

Kosinski is quoted as saying that making a Gran Turismo movie would fulfil his dream of making a car flick. The GT movie is being produced by Dana Brunetti, Michael De Luca, Josh Bratman, DeVon Franklin and Elizabeth Cantillon. The original screenplay - that we don't really now anything about - was written by Alex Tse.
