Logitech G305 Mouse

It's compact, but it packs a punch.

Logitech G305 Mouse

Lightspeed is a really eye-catching word to use, and it's the word that's attached to the Logitech G305 gaming mouse, or should we say the Lightspeed Wireless gaming mouse. A quick browse of the product page will let you know that it's got max 12,000 DPI and 1ms report rate, which is all well and good in theory, but how does it feel in practice? The answer is that it feels very nice indeed.

This responsiveness is helped by the all-new Hero sensor in the mouse, combined with a new wireless solution, which basically means your usual USB dongle is now plugged into a little peripheral. It's only a short wire wired antenna coming out of your computer now (which the dongle connects to the end of), so there's minimal added fuss, and if it truly is the reason for this responsiveness we're feeling, we're more than happy to use it.

What's more is that it's all designed in a way to keep things compact. Hell, even the dongle itself came inside a compartment on the mouse, and so everything can stay in a tiny little box when you're not using it. The mouse itself is just as simple, with six buttons but none of the angular edges and flair of other gaming mice you see out there. This is a compact device, for better or worse depending on your preference, and at 99 grams it feels compact too.

Clicking is also an important part of the mouse experience, and here it's responsive without being too sensitive. It really suited us both when playing shooters and more chilled experiences like strategy games, and considering you can customise the six buttons on there, it's perfect for every kind of game. We even assigned the two buttons on the left for volume up and down when we were listening to music, so it's very versatile, especially when it comes to customising the DPI and reports-per-second.

It's definitely built for utility, as while other options out there might be flashier with more colours and lights on it, this is a basic black build that does the job, but boy does it do it well. It won't win any beauty prizes, but with all this technology packed inside of it and 250 hours of battery life on one AA, this is more for those who want results rather than the prettiest setup to take pictures of and plaster over Instagram.

We enjoyed our time with the Logitech G305 in the various games we used it in, as well as general browsing, and although there were some minor niggles, like the harsh sound of the scrolling wheel and the plain design, we'd recommend this to anyone looking for a gaming mouse, especially since there's minimal fuss and it's easy to get going and away. You can tweak it to your liking as well if you're a hardcore fan, so there's something for everybody here.

Not the prettiest mouse, Noise when scrolling isn't great.
