In the latest edition of Nintendo Direct, Satoru Iwata gave us more details on Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros., which is set to be released on July 12, both at retail and via the Nintendo eShop.

Story and gameplay details were also provided for the 3DS title. For example, the action in Dream Team Bros. will take place on the an island where Mario and friends are sightseeing. While there Princess Peach is kidnapped and taken to mysterious dreamworld, set in Luigi's mind.

There's to be more new action sequences and battle scenes that utilise the 3D visuals of Nintendo's handheld. Iwata also promised a wide variety of gameplay experiences, for example, both screens will be used, and in the game world we'll have Mario use a large amount of Luigis to help him traverse tricky platforming sections and solve puzzles.
