Microsoft made the announcement a while ago that Internet Explorer would be fully shutting down as the tech giant shifts its focus to the faster and much better option of Microsoft Edge. This process has taken time to achieve as there are still individuals out there who use Explorer's services, but it looks like the final nail is about to be hammered into the browser's coffin.
An update on an Internet Explorer FAQ page has confirmed that any remaining desktop applications of the browser have been permanently disabled as part of a new Windows update, with anyone who now attempts to use the system being automatically redirected to Edge instead.
To add to this, Microsoft stated that June 13, 2023 will see a Windows security update also arriving, which will scrub PCs of any remaining references, including the visual icons on the Taskbar and Start Menu, removed from Windows systems.
