Just today we reported that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice surpassed 2 million sales in 10 days, but at the Reboot Develop event in Croatia (as reported by VG247) FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki was present to talk about what else he'd like to work on in the future, including a more story-focused project.

He spoke with Shadow of the Colossus' creator Fumito Ueda on the panel in question, with Ueda saying that "games are organic, there may be changes in tech that can be applied, informing the story."

Both of these developers have made games that don't necessarily put story as the central focus, with FromSoftware's Dark Souls and Bloodborne especially putting the mechanics at the forefront and leaving the narrative intentionally ambiguous.

Miyazaki explained that he thinks gameplay is at the heart of a game, which comes first with the story being built around that. "You're playing with clay and it slowly comes into focus," he said, before adding that there are other ways to see things. He'd like to create a game with story as the focus, for example, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, and he also added that he would like to improve how he communicates story to the team working on the game.

Would you like to see a more story-focused effort from Miyazaki?

REVIEW. Written by Stefan Briesenick

"The sheer presence and power of these warriors make Sekiro's sense of play feel unique even within the confines of FromSoftware's past works."
