Riot Games has revealed that the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) for 2022 will in fact take place in South Korea. Announced in a blog post, this will mark the first time that the country has ever held the tournament.

Set to take place between May 10-29, the event will see the best teams from each of the regional leagues heading to Busan to compete, where they will be fighting through a tournament that has a group stage, then a rumble stage, then a knockout stage, all leading up to the grand final.

"South Korea has been a trailblazer in the esports industry for decades," said Naz Aletaha, global head of LoL Esports. "We're thrilled to honor its rich history in esports, the passion of Korean fans, and the talent of the pro teams by bringing MSI to Korea for the first time. Busan was an incredible host to us during both Worlds 2014 and 2018, and we look forward to returning there to set the stage for the best League of Legends teams in the world to face off."

While we're told that more information will be coming at a later date, the event will be hosted at the Bexco Exhibition Hall in Busan.
